Freight Charges
Some furniture items are oversized and will be shipped
freight collect, which means you will pay the shipper when they deliver the merchandise.
Freight charges will be charged by the freight carrier to you. This ensures that you can
thoroughly inspect the item before accepting it and paying shipping.
It is standard policy for the freight companies to
provide curbside delivery only. You may need to make appropriate personal arrangements if
you need assistance in getting the items into your home. If you find damage, refuse
delivery and make a note on the bill of lading that you are refusing delivery due to
damage and describe the type of damage. Do this while the driver is present.
It is very important that you inspect the package or box
carefully. If you accept delivery of an unpacked item and later find it is damaged, you
are responsible for recovering your purchase and freight costs from the shipping company.
Unfortunate, but true. You are responsible for filing the claim.
If you accept a delivery for Fedex or UPS and find hidden
damage, please file a claim with them as soon as possible within 48 hours. Once you accept
a delivery, you are responsible for any damage claim. This is the reason you need to
carefully inspect the boxes and items before the delivery person leaves. |
